Best screws to attach WH to foam board?
Trying to seal up exterior gaps before winter. Started with the water heater that was pulling off the wall. I tried to tighten it months ago. But noticed all the screws on the right side were stripped...

And yes, I agree that a backer board has to be the way to go. If possible use hardwood (oak?) for greater strength.
