Best to keep absorption fridge running or shut down

I have ac power available where I store the fiver. I keep the Dometic running all during camping season on ac power. Only shut it down when winterized. I know there are no moving parts but looking ...

A local rebuilder told me they tend to have shorter lives if they are shut down frequently between trips. They believe the thermal stress causes cracks and they said the ones that last longest are the units that never get shut down.
So we leave ours on all season and I figure it only cost $5~7 a month to do so.
