Best to keep absorption fridge running or shut down

I have ac power available where I store the fiver. I keep the Dometic running all during camping season on ac power. Only shut it down when winterized. I know there are no moving parts but looking ...

Many of you might not be old enough to remember, but there was a time when residential gas refers were common in rural areas. They ran for 10 to 20 years without ever being off.

I wouldn't be surprised if some Amish are still using them.
