Best way to charge batteries when Boondocking?

i use my portable solar,but if it's charging the boat batteries at the time i need it i also have front/rear mounted winch plugs that i plug my 1000 watt inverter into and run my smart charger off of it.it's not all that efficient gas wise but i can charge them fairly quickly.i never need to worry about battery power off the grid.booze and water are a different story.
