Best way to clean up ATF/Hydraulic fluid?

There is a puddle of hydraulic fluid or ATF in the tray under the pump for our slides. I don't know if the pump is leaking and thats why the fluid is there, or if it spilled when filling. Been like that since we picked it up from the previous owner. I want to clean it up so I can determine if it's a problem or not, but I can't really find much info about the best way to clean it up.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse
  • IF fluid had to be added, you have a leak
(unless previous owner added when slides where out...then it overflowed when sides came in)

If fluid hasn't been added, you have a leak......most likely pump to reservoir o-ring.
  • Use brake cleaner and a rag. Be sure to get the nonflammable stuff. There is clorinated and nonclorinated. One is flammable one isn't.

    Mark
  • Check the fluid level in the tank when the slides are IN.This may
tell you if you lost any fluid or if it was an overfill.
    Siggy
  • Go to your local Auto Parts store and pick up a spray can or two of brake cleaner or Carb cleaner. Either one will work, i've had more luck with the brake cleaner, removes all oils and grease.
  • Put a pile of cheap, non clumping, kitty litter down and let the litter soak up the oil. Then use a degreaser and rags.
