Black tank problem

I originally had a clog between the toilet and the tank. I ran a snake through and removed the clog. I do not know what caused the blockage but I use a tank treatment with every tank flush. I also have a tank wash down system I use at every dump. Today I went to drain the black tank and the tank will not drain. The valve seems to operate correctly. When first opening the valve I get a little flow then nothing. The tank is almost full. I am thinking that what ever blocked the drain between toilet and tank is now blocking the valve. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Nice idea on using that old sewer hose..........ah necessity the mother of invention :B

Now...what was that 'solid material' :H

Just remember if you have to force it down toilet pipe it has to come out of tank.

    Anybody missing something?
Kids toys, hair brush, comb, toothbrush etc.

Anybody tossing wrong items in toilet?
Woman's items, anti-wipes, paper towels etc.

OR just not using enough water when flushing toilet?

No reason for RV toilet line to plug/clog any more so then S&B toilet line!
  • Take the money you spend foolishly on black tank chemicals and buy one of THESE or you can go to Walmart and get one without the gate attached.

Use plenty of water during each flush, keep the toilet paper usage to a minimum and don't be skimpy with the water. When the tank is about 2/3rds full, using the above device (or your in-tank rinse) and add more water until 3/4ers full and then drain. Once drained, add more water and drain again.

You do NOT need chemicals....water is more than sufficient to keep the tank free from clogs. If you have an odor, then you have a problem that needs to be repaired.

    Hope this helps

  • I would fill the rest of the tank with water first. Then I would have a 5-gal bucket ready at the outlet. I would then open the valve and poke some hard wire up there and break up the clog. As soon as the poop flies, I would close the valve and re- hook up the drain hose.
  • Thanks for the replies. I used and old sewer hose and made the sewer connection with it. I then cut a small hole in the hose to get my snake through. I opened the valve and ran the snake up the pipe. I had a little seep from the hole cut in the pipe, but I got a lot of solid material out. I then ran my santi flush and added a lot of water to the tank. I think I have got it draining. Again thanks for the replies.
  • Attach a Hydro Flush and backflush the piping and the black tank. Could be what's left of the hole that was made into the tank when built.
  • Its called a big wad of toilet paper you have to reverse flush it as don says or open the valve and turn your tank wash on and hope it breaks apart before the tank over flows
  • Bite the bullet, open the valve and run the snake up thru the dump opening. It aint going to be pretty but probably has to be done!
