Blower fan noise in Coleman Mach 49000 series A/C
After reading the posts about silver tape and blower noise on the Coleman Mach a/c rooftop units, I thought I knew what I would find when I opened up the unit to diagnose and repair blower rubbing noise....which I would describe as a rubbing noise on spin up/down.
Well, the foam and tape that was my concern all looked fine and there was no evidence of rubbing or chafing. The fan assembly is quiet when spun by hand (when fan assembly raised to inspect unit)....but when the unit is reassembled it is back to the rubbing noise that can be heard on spin up/down.
Don't know if it is serious or not, but it sure is irritating.
Any suggestions on this? Could it be a lubrication issue and if so are these units capable of being lubricated in the field?
