Getting ready to order parts for my solar install, rather than using a combiner box I want to use feed through connector as shown here:Blue Sea makes them:Blue Sea feed throughand so does Waytek:Waytek Feed throughThe Waytek are quite a bit cheaper, I need to order some bus bars, breakers etc, are the Waytek parts as good as the Blue Sea?

How do you think these will standup to UV? That would make me nervous...

I too use the PVC ELECTRICAL JUNCTION boxes with weather tight lids. I like to mount these on the trailer side however to cut down on the direct SUN UVs...I will mount one on the outside wall aligned up with one on the inside wall and drill out a large two inch hole in the middle of the boxes. Then I can use PVC FLEX lines to route the cables where they need to go. I would always add a large short section of solid PVC tubing glued in place to seal off the large hole between the two PVC Boxes. You can pull the weather tight lids and gain access to the cabling.. Everything installed inside conduit from point A to point B. All of my best DC CABLES for Batteries Installations used this idea.LOWES has the whole assortment of BOXES with different number of ports for any project you may need. Working with NAVELEX SYSTEMS in my working years for all sorts of remote installation the BLUE SEA PRODUCTS were proven to be the best choice for high current switches-fuse assemblies-external DC sub panels-terminal blocks etc.. The ANCOR BRAND Marine cables were the cables and ring terminals of choice as well. Roy Ken

Blue Sea is made in the USA and are for the marine market. Much better quality than the other brand listed

Its plastic ain't it ?A feed thru connector would be a ss stud (or cut head off bolt) w/ 2 ss nuts, and flat washers. There is nothin cheaper, easier, or better.Blue Seas, no better than any other good quality, and rediculously priced !

2-4 ga is better than 4-10 ga isn't it, as far as voltage loss etc? Not to mention the welding cable would be easier to work with than the UV rated MC4 cables I'd think..?

I'm going to look at putting a box inside the fridge vent, just figured the feed throughs were a good idea... :@

Cuz I'm running a pair of 4ga down the fridge vent, under the trailer to the batteries. Are you saying I should run 4-10 ga instead?

Put a plastic box on my roof.
A good coat of white plastic compatible paint blocks the uv.

Why cut the wire and create two more exposed connections?

Just use a strain relief and feed the wire down in one continuous pull.

Or run the cables through grommets if you cant get over the lip. Having the battery exposed on an aluminum roof would make me nervous.

Ya, the 4 ga would be inside the vent, 2 pairs of cables to 3 panels outside.

It should be fine under the vent, though I just curve the cables up and over the lip, down through the screen, but I use a box as a combiner, and if I understand, you are using the connector to combine.

Chris, you're an RV tech, what do you think of the idea, I would UV exposure be an issue under the fridge vent ya think?

The Waytek is listed as being nickle plated brass with stainless steel hardware. Not sure how much quality difference there could be.
