That is how I was taught to adjust drum type brakes. So I'm guessing they did it right, save for one step. Will get to that in a sec.
It is possible they got grease where grease does not belong but. Let me tell you the story of a car I once owned and that tragic and fatful day (ok, ok enough of that tune)
Took it to the dealer, they commented it had excessive brake pedal travel.. They adjusted, "Better but still excessive"
Tried again, no improvement
Sat at my desk at work telling cops where to go and mentally reviewing what I know about drum brakes.
Took it to my tire guy with a special instruciton "MIC the Drums" (Measure the drums with a micrometer)
new drums, Great brakes, Just like new.
Seems the idiot brake technician at the dealer had FORGOTTEN how drum brakes work.. I, being older (I think) and more experienced,, Did not.
