The 13.5 or .8 is not the charging voltage, it is the V the batt is passing through on the way up while being charged at varying amps during the day
Same charging at 12v at 5a as 14v at 5a-- 5a. Charging V just has to be higher than batt V to make 5A charging It is current that makes the electrolyte more acidic
The question is will the longer wire get him more amps by being in the sun longer in the day hense more AH daily haul even if the amps at any moment is a bit less. Yes it will
The issues are
1. Will batt get to Vabs and stay long enough with either wire
2. Will Vabs seen at the battery as reduced by Vdrop meet batt spec
Longer wire more sun helps 1 He is not getting 2 now with the shorter wire it seems so how much worse is it for 2 with longer wire?
Same as doing 50-80s off grid and recover the batt once home, solar can be like that
Good idea to have the long wire in sections to use as needed!
