Bully Dog for Cummins 400 HP

Anyone have experience with the Bully Dog add-on for diesel engine?
Information suggests 10% increase in mileage and 15% bump in HP.

  • I have triple dog and only run tow/economy mode. I get 24mpg around town and 12.5 towing (hand calculated). I am light on the gas and have a 2wd 6 speed so that helps. I was having issues setting tire size for my new wheels and uninstalled the tune for a bit. The difference in power and economy was noticeable (mpg towing dropped to 10).
  • I have not run Bullydog products. You don't say which year Cummins. Be sure to use settings that avoid excessive pursue for power gains. Your choices are timing, duration and pressure. Avoid pressure. I use a Smarty programmer. I see about 100deg reduction in towing EGT's (exhaust gas temperature). This means turbo temp.

Before adding any kind of power buy and install gauges.

Genosgarage. Com is a great place to start. Also look around for local vendor that your friends trust.
  • I've used other brands. You'll see more power, but I've never seen any better fuel consumption that I could measure. Makes driving more fun with the extra HP, but that might even cause you fuel milage to decrease because you could have your foot in it more......
