Some perdy good posts so far !:)
Up till a couple yrs ago, I just thought VA was made in the US, as they dint seem to be all that bad of quality. But at that time when I bought a 3/4" bit that wouldn't drill butter because it had been sharpened backwards, is when I read the print on the back. Sad part is, after returning it, I went to Oregon Tool and bought a hi quality USA for 2 bucks less.
But, this is the first time I had this happen ! It started drilling fine, then all at once it just fell into a 90 deg, could not believe it !
I doubt this is typical of VA, as I have used hundreds of these small bits. But it sure needs some better quality control for sure.
