Cable slide problem

Montana High Country 2014 305 RL... Cable slides with no problems until this AM getting ready to travel. Kitchen slide with stove and frig., tv,fireplace so a little heavy maybe. Started to retract and after 4-5 inches a loud bump (pop) then smooth for 4-5 inches and another bump then same scenario a couple more times so I tried putting slide back out- same thing. Happens both ways. Close exam under, around, and over slide. No visible problem.. Can't see where cable rides on pulleys because of black metal trim pieces. Don't know if these are just trim or structurally holding something that might jump off if I remove them. The repetitive length of movement made me question if the cable is jumping off the pulley. Any help from experiences with these BAL Accuslide mechanics would be appreciated. Cables are not passing through designed openings in the middle but are rubbing off to the side. The name of any repair service in the Birmingham Al area with good experience with these would be appreciated.

Inclined to agree with gear box.. On the cables outside give 'em a slight "Tug" they should be tight, very tight in fact.

Now remove the trim above the slide out (usually, can be below but usually above) remove some plugs and the screws behind them

Youy should SEE the slide "Works"

ON the end of the motor NOT hooked to the gear box there is a 1/4" Hex shaft.. Size and shape sound like a common power screwdriver size? It should, it is.

Using a flex shaft you SHOULD find in your Manuals bag.. And a power drill. give it a try. No guarantees if the gear box is toast.. but well more power to you .
  • gearbox is going out the pop is the skipping off teeth.
need a new gearbox and to realign it if cable looks chaffed
