I have two different MPPT controllers.
Eco-Worthy 20 amp manual states, "When LCD shows Absorb or Float, the charging is not using MPPT, it uses PWM to control the precise voltage to protect the battery." (you can set those two voltages within a range)
The Tracer 20 amp has a fixed charging profile where it does Bulk then two hours of "constant voltage" at the setting for battery type 14.x, then drops to Float Charging at 13.x for battery type.
The manual says the Tracer in Constant Charging, "is no longer MPPT charging, and in the meantime the charging current will drop gradually."
The Tracer does not say it is in PWM, but only says it is not in MPPT except in Bulk. It does refer to its MPPT charging as being superior to "traditional Switch Charging technology and PWM Charging technology"
So when the Tracer is no longer using MPPT charging during its Constant Charging and Float Charging stages, what charging technology is it using? ( I have taken this to be PWM, and red31 has shown us how that works during Float when the on off durations respond to adding/reducing a load )
If the tech purists don't want to call that PWM like Eco-worthy does, what terminology would you like?
