Sorry for the late response, the BBQ box grills are cast iron, not porcelain coated, but I think they are relatively easy to clean with a wire brush or like another poster stated just crank the heat up and let the gunk bake off like a self cleaning oven. No the drippings don't drop onto the burners,they fall into a baffle underneath the grill grates.
