Generators come in 3 types for this
1:Open Frame "Contractors" likely should be tarped
Enclosed, be they 2: Traditional generators (Think Generac 1000) or 3:Inverter are usually more or less water resistance..
A horizontal driving rain.. Not a good thing for any device.
