The O P says the 'hot leg' of his plug gets overheated.
The current ALL comes 'in' on the 'hot' leg, and ALL
'leaves' on the 'neutral' leg..........reversing 60
times per second.....the point is, if ONLY the 'hot'
leg gets overheated, there is a problem (probably
loose connection) on THAT connection. There is equal
current on each 'leg', and the heating should be equal,
if all other things are equal.
