If you have a 30 amp end that is melting or corroding, that means you are OVERLOADING the 30 amp cord. You are running MORE amps (more than 30 amps) than the cord and supply is rated at. Installing a 50 amp end just bypasses the problem and will transfer the problem to the interior of your RV. That means since the plug will not overheat, because you have the heavier duty 50 amp end, then the end of the shore cord where it connects either a Transfer box or direct to the interior 120 breaker system will now overheat and cause problems. As you found out, breakers will NOT trip from this type overloading. Doug
