NO, there is to much of a chance that you will fry your RV by installing a plug that could be configured for 50A, to even consider going that route.
I'm gonna side the the Texan on this one (also because I'm from Marlin and even some Texans need to look that town up) and because my plug has never gotten hot once on my 9 year old rig. Either you've got a problem somewhere else, or you've got cheap China junk for a plug.
