Can New A/C Be Run Immediately After Install?

Just Replaced a Coleman Mach unit. Are these like refrigerators where if you tilt it vertically or sideways, you have to wait 24 hrs. for the compressor oil to settle before running it? Can't find anything on the Airexcel site or in the manual regarding that.

Tempting to joke and say NO.

Depends on what you call installed.
Before you install the first step is to TURN OFF the circuit breaker (or pull the power plug from shore)
After install you must restore power (Turn on Breaker, Plug back in) before you can use it.

Yes. you can use it ASAP after install. No problem it's ready to run out of the box. In fact the installer will likely do just that to make sure he got everythign right.
  • I think I'd follow the instructions for testing the unit after installation.
  • how long did t take you, set it in place, wire it up, bolt it down

its probably safe to run it
  • You might give it overnight for the oil to drain back where it belongs.
  • I tilted it on end for the 5 mins it took me to slide it up the ladder. It was flat on the roof thereafter.
  • Unless they were stored in some odd postion, like on end. Otherwise fire that baby up!
  • If you tilted it when installing NO. If it sat more than a few hours sideways or upside down I would wait. Doug
