Can the springs on slide toppers be re-tensioned?

I was told by a local RV Tech that the springs on my slide toppers could not be tightened up. Is this true, or was he "blowing smoke"? I know from experience that the spring on garage door openers ca...

My slide awning has a metal cover that fills the gap between the wall and the actual fabric. The awning is 44 inches long and will extend out to that length. I use only 24 inches of that. So, I would say yes.. it can be tightened up. Follow the instructions carefully and be very careful when you are setting the tension.
