I ran into a similar problem powering a small dorm fridge using a Samlex 600W inverter. The inverter was not able to overcome the surge of the Lock Rotor Draw of the fridge. I replaced the Samlex with a 1000W Xantrex Prowatt inverter and it doesn't break a sweat with the fridge, running it off of my 300 AH capacity batteries.
You'll need a larger inverter and more battery capacity than the B&D power station to run your little freezer.
