carefree colorado quick n ez awning issues
My Carefree awning motor decided that it would no longer close our awning after a NASCAR race at MIS. The emergency jumper posts did not respond when 12V power was added, and the hex screw for manual closing was also inoperable (stripped it appeared).
Since my RV belonged to another individual for the first 10 years, I assume that this is not the first time it has malfunctioned, hence the stripped emergency screw. It has seemedweak though for the entire time I`ve owned it but we have never had it quit.
My camping tools allowed me to get the motor off, and I have the motor number, or at least the part number from RAE Corporation. However, when I called them they made it quite clear that they didn`t deal with individuals and told me that I could nly orrder replacement parts from them in quantities of 25. They also wouldn`t give me the motro part number, which might have assisted me in cross referencing to another manufacturer.
My RV dealer insists that I need the whole new awning. I take issue with it because the awning is in perfect shape and i feel it would be very wasteful to discard it because of the motor.
The part number, including the rightangle gearbox, which I don`t need is: 2418136
I`ve also done some research at the RAE Corp site and think the motor number is:M1603, although I haven`t confirmed that. Please help me O Bee One, you are my only hope!
