Not sure if it's against the rules..but if that's the case, just put a tiny motorcycle battery in and use a jumpstart pack to start it.
Same weight savings without the complications...and pretty darn cheap.
Of course, in racing, cost often goes out the window as people try to show off how higher tech you can be.
