It really may not be as simple as some of you are making it sound.
I had a Class C (Ford) rental in Alaska a couple years back. Its odometer was in km. Evidently made for and originally sold in Canada. I tried everything to get it to read in miles, including everything in the owner's manual. No luck. I had to live with it. Fortunately, I only had it for 10 days, so it was only a minor annoyance.
