As for batteries, I'll definitely be getting AGM batteries. I don't want to have to deal with checking the electrolyte levels and having to remember to equalize them every month. I have enough on my plate as it is. From what I've read, the AGM batteries can take up to 20% of the rated AMP Hours when charging. That's about 40 Amps if getting 2 batteries. Problem is, there are no 40amp chargers on the market anymore other than the old style stand up type with wheels. Stanley, Black & Decker used to make them but not anymore. Looks like I'll have to get something that can do 20amps at best.
Well that's not the case at all, even NOCO and CTEK both offer small, portable 25 amp chargers, OR you could buy another converter such as a Progressive Dynamics 9260 which includes a charge wizard, mount it in the trailer's front pass through storage compartment near the batteries, and use it solely as a battery charger. That was actually my intention last year when I wanted to upgrade from my existing WFCO converter which never seems to ever want to charge at it's claimed 14.4 volts, but because we camp without shore power only occasionally and I've since sold my last EU2000i for lack of use, I chose instead to buy a
CTEK Multi US 7002 7 amp charger that does a fine job maintaining my one G27 Interstate. For my needs it's a great solution but for those wanting to charge more quickly at a higher charge rate using a genset as source power either of those NOCO or CTEK 25 amp chargers would work.
Now that you've clarified your limited needs for battery power I still believe just two GC-2s rather than four would suffice nicely for what you have in mind. Later on, add a 1000 watt PSW inverter and you'd be able to easily run a coffee maker and toaster. Pics of my inverter installation are in my gallery.
