I will be retiring in a few month's and my wife will be retiring at the end of the year. We like the idea of being able to do some traveling where we can dry camp more as well. If 2 6v batteries is all we need, then 2 is all we will buy but right now, I have no idea how much power is going to be necessary.
And therein lies the rub. ;) There's no point in buying four GC-2s if two will suffice and as I've mentioned before mounting four 6 volt jars together on your trailer tongue may prove difficult compared to mounting just two. Every situation is different so you need to figure out
before you buy these batts just how you're going to mount and wire them.
However, now that you've made it clear you prefer and are willing to invest in more costly AGMs instead of flooded which you originally mentioned that
could solve your mounting issues - two could go on the tongue and because they're AGMs two more could live in the front pass through storage compartment. Personally I wouldn't wire them together in series / parallel as you had mentioned but bank switch the two sets using a
Blue Sea m-Series 6007 Battery Switch which would allow you to use just one set at any given time, then switch to the second once the first is drawn down. That would also allow you to recharge the banks sequentially, charging just one bank at time and thereby shortening your charge time. Another option would be to initially invest in just two GC-2 AGMs, see how it goes, but if use dictates you do need more reserve then simply add a second set of batts later on. Lots of options but you gotta have a plan
before you make the investment. ;)
