That, and also because of the set voltage the converter manufacturer may have used which switches the unit into bulk charge mode. Those who complain the most seem to be those of us who own a WFCO converter, in particular the 8955. I know mine has
never delivered 14.4 volts to the battery :M ... but it's also located 25' aft of the battery and is wired to that battery with 6 gauge cable. Whether replacing the WFCO with a PD or other converter would overcome this problem I don't think anyone can absolutely guarantee. I'd prefer to not bother finding out and have just left my WFCO as is, turned it off, and use a different charger that
does deliver 14.4 to the battery.
