AGM batteries do not need to be outside. I have a TT and I eliminated any long run issue by moving my AGM inside. It is so close to the converter that I was able to remove the battery cables from the outside junction box and connect them to the converter. My cell phone battery worries me more!
In addition, I mounted an inverter nearby and was able to cut a 5ft starter cable in two to power the inverter(300W PSW).
