2 gauge wire probably is the correct size for a 30' run but that would mean Progressive Dynamics should have a disclaimer stating not to use their 55 amp converters beyond X number of feet to avoid significant loss of load because they have lugs for 4 gauge at most. Randy's opinion on temperature control is that it makes very little difference in everyday battery charging and didn't feel it was a concern. He was aware of the gauge cable I have, the length of it and that I wanted a fast charge so you should probably strike up a conversation with him if you disagree with his recommendation. Yes, I am still going with the Duracell batteries. At $179 compared to the prices of other non East Penn Deka batteries where temp control isn't a decided issue, the cost is prohibitive. As a side note, I found a dealer within 50 miles that sells Lifeline batteries. I requested a quote and they said they don't keep them in stock so they would have to order them. My pick up at their store price....$330+$100 per battery for the shipping cost. $430 per battery? I would be nuts to spend that kind of money for them.
