Charging Issues

Well they do not just unplug themselves....

Is the inverter factory installed?
Depending on install maybe the converter needs to be off to avoid a power loop.
OEM would not have this issue.


Is it an inverter/charger by chance?
Maybe the charging section of the inverter was turned off inadvertently.

WELL FELLOWS:

I found out what my problem was, somehow the converter plug got unplugged. Now everything is charging like it is suppose to.

You can play with the model number and find an example that fits your rv. In any of the cases you will see the converter charges the batteries. The converter is powered from AC, either by the generator or shoreline.

you have an automatic transfer switch
converter gets power from which ever 120v source is the being used
shore or generator makes no difference

how long does 12v power last after you turn off the engine
are those the original 9yr old batteries
if those batteries are bad, you may have blown some fuse on the converter

i think you need to call a mobile RV tech or take it to an RV shop
you know nothing about how anything electric in the RV is attached or works
it will be safer for you and the RV to have somebody else check things out

The converter/charger is power by either the shore power, or the generator. Both the generator and the shore power put out 120v ac.
Your RV may have a automatic transfer switch that switches between the 2 power sources. Or you would have to plug the power cord into the generator circuit each time.

Generator probably has some start cables but those are not charging the battery.

Generator --> 120v --> Converter --> 12v --> Battery.

No the 12v power does not go back through the generator.

I believe my converter is something like a 5500 or 550 not sure, will have to look tomorrow.
Does that power from the converter go thru my generator before it gets to my batteries?

I just looked and both of the cables coming off my generator are loose, could that be my problem?

Is the battery disconnect switch turned on? It has to be for the converter to charge the house battery bank.
