Fred,
Thank you for the detailed reply. I'm definitely planning on solar in the long run, but I'm doing this in phases and I'm just not there yet.

I hope that you are not thinking about removing the battery and storing it in your garage between trips. That is not a requirement for long battery life. Certainly do not overcharge them, as melted battery plates are worse for battery life than a little build up on the plates. I try not to charge mine over 40 amps to avoid warming up the battery. (that is with 4 golf cart batteries).
Yes, I am removing them from the RV as it is stored in a lot with no power. Until I get solar going, the only option will be to pull the batteries when returning from a trip and charge them in my garage.
Your RV will consume 35 amp hours daily to run just the CO meter, propane detector and refrigerator. Your old group 24 battery is only about 65 amp hours, so will run empty in a couple of days even without running ANY lights. The Trojan's are rated at 220 amp hours, and will serve you well.
My goal is to bring enough power with me to manage a 3 night stay with no charging, that's why I bought the Trojans. I've changed out the lights to LEDs and we plan to conserve as much as possible. All we will use will be the 35 daily plus a little water pump use and minimal led lighting. I'll bring the group 24 along to use if I get low, plus I do have a 2kw inverter gen to run if we need to. Overall though, I'm not going to run a gen 2-3 hours per day for charging. We just don't want to listen to that.
My first set of trojan batteries lasted 13 years!
That's what I'm hoping I can pull off as well!
