The quality of tires, the frequency of problems IMHO is abysmal compared to thirty years ago.
I never used to have windshield glass crack or pit as easily as it does now.
Manufacturers design limits intentionally into products to increase sales. When I recommended substituting a pair of thirty cent ball bearings to replace twenty cent bushings to one manufacturer, they about had a heart attack - for a hundred fifty dollar item whose primary fault was early bushing wearout.
In an era of green necessity, and exploding consumption of natural resources, manufacturing a product intentionally to be defective or short-lived should be outlawed. "Comsumptors" of natural resources no longer have the luxury of wasting them for the sake of profit. Manufacturers risk eventual government intervention for the sake of a buck. This is about as stupid as it gets. I am glad to have gotten out of the battery design business before the era of "recycled contaminated lead" reared its ugly head.
