Cleaning the pilot on my Suburban gas range

I have a 2014 Cedar Creek Cottage and we need to clean around the pilot. This happened once before when the pilot was plugged. We had a technician come who sprayed a cleaner of some kind and used an old tooth brush to clean the area around the pilot. It took him 5 minutes and cost us $100. That company is out of business.

We notice that the pilot isn't burning with a blue flame(now orangish) and it stinks.

Has anyone experienced this problem and what did you d?. That service company told my wife to get this spray(?) and to do what they did with a brush. She could not remember the professional spray cleaner.

  • Remove the pilot tube and orifice. Blow compressed air through the orifice in the opposite direction from normal flow.
You can clean the tip of the outside of the orifice with an automotive spray cleaner and a toothbrush if it makes you feel better. It usually does nothing to fix a clogged orifice and that sounds like what you have.
