- JiminDenverExplorer III use to pick up movements like these and put them in cigar and wine boxes to sell. I made the first over 20 years ago and it still keeps time today.
We have a number of old clocks dating back to 1800, one is near 9 ft tall. Most of the smaller ones are not worth enough to rebuild or replace the movement so a battery movement is put in its place. What amazing is what a clock shop charges to do it. - NaioExplorer II

Naw, you were right. - NaioExplorer III had an analog clock on my PHONE until this latest phone that doesn't have it as an option!
I'm totally with you on digital clocks requiring me to stop, think, interpret. '8:54...ok, that means 6 minutes till 9.'
As for replacing those battery movements, all the new ones I have tried have been so flimsy. They get a speck of dirt in them and then they don't work. I really don't recommend them. - A little bit of both for me. Wrist is a self winding automatic(analog), living room is a chiming grandfather clock(analog), kitchen/RV is digital that resets to broadcast time and has in/out temperature.

- JiminDenverExplorer IISo spend a few pesos and replace the movement. A piece of cake compared to rest of the stuff you do.
click - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerMovement was quartz single AA battery powered. White face black hands and incredibly accurate. Myself I think it is an utter WASTE of time to have to stop and interpret what the numbers mean. But I'm old - maybe it's an age thing.

That is profound !!! :B - JiminDenverExplorer IIWas the clock wind up, battery or plug in? Movements are easy to replace.
I like analog because I can see the time from a distance.
