Coleman A/C blower stuck.

The blower motor on our Coleman A/C stopped yesterday. I can get the motor to go if I spin it manually.. The motor looks super-easy to replace and I'll probably do just that as soon as I can find a motor out here in the hinterlands of Wyoming.

What I am wondering is, are there any other possible culprits here? Would a bad capacitor give me the same issue I am seeing here? Yeah, it's probably the blower motor but it it isn't, I'd hate to piss 100 bucks for no reason.

THANKS!

I agree with Deprived, Most likely culprit is the start cap..

    A bit of motor theory

There are 2 or 3 windings (The 3rd is always the same) the two however are "phased" the Start cap causes them one to slightly "lead" the other, this causes the motor to rotate.. If not for this winding AC type motors would never start rotating. If the start cap is kaput. Then this start winding is basically.. Not there. a 10 dollar part (likely in a box nearby) is all you need. I carry a spare for Carrier, but also hopefully I won't have a carrier soon.

    DC motor work.... Differently.

But Big A/C motors need that start cap or they might run backwards if at all. (Some smaller motors also work.... Differently)

Right. Well, I just looked on Amazon and the cap is only six bucks, so I went ahead and ordered one along with the fan motor. I'm VERY uncertain of myself when it comes to replacing the capacitor, though. Those things are nasty.
