The actual AC control boxes burning up is VERY rare and unusual. To have 2 burn up in a very short time indicates
1. You did not have GOOD 50 amp service. The Line voltage may have been to low. You need to have the line voltage checked at the service pole. Just because you have 50 amp service does not mean your line voltage is up to par.
2. The 120 wire nut connections at each control box(installed by Winne), were NOT tight and secure and when the amperage increased and the connections loose caused them to heat up and arc and melt.
3. IF the compressor were defective and pulled too many amps, I doubt your built in EMS system would kick out the affected AC units. The BREAKER(20 amp for each AC) would trip first. The AMP draw feature of an EMS system does not really protect or kick out on an overload. What it does is "See's" the available amp service and will either allow ALL 120 appliances to run(TRUE 50 amp service, which is 100 amps total) or if NOT on true 50 amp service, will NOT allow certain higher amp appliances to even come ON depending on the panels Shed order. Does your EMS SHOW 50 amp service? Doug
PS. on TRUE 50 amp service the amp draw meter will be BLANK. If it shows the amp draw total, you are NOT on 50 amp service.
