Color monitor upgrade for back-up camera(s)

I am disappointed in the quality of the original black and white monitor and 3 back-up cameras in my MH (2008 Itasca Suncruiser 35L). There is not enough contrast or brightness to actually see much in most situations.

I would like to upgrade to a color monitor. Does that also require replacing the 3 cameras? I assume that the installed cables would still be usable.

Any thoughts?

  • As an RV tech, I drive and back thousands of motorhomes every year. Color LCD systems(resolution) vary widely. IF I have MY choice, I would prefer a B&W system over a Color any day. If a B&W is up to specs, the quality of the resolution is far superior to a Color system. Especially in bright sunlight. But you need to see and operate the specific color system you want to upgrade too. Doug
  • You need a new color camera as well as a color monitor. My Voyager black and white 7" monitor died recently. I replaced it from RV Cams. Its a color monitor but I kept the original camera. The color camera with audio is spendy.

  • You may have to change cameras to color as well. Cables should be OK depending on the end connectors and if they match the new cameras. It's rare that color cameras would have been installed if the monitor is B&W.
