Compressor shuts down after thermostat replacement

I just replaced the thermostats in two trailers with Honeywell digital battery-powered thermostats. Wired them up yellow compressor wire to Y, brown lo fan wire to G, white furnace wire to W, green ground wire to RC. The red and blue wires are not connected. Now, it works fine for an hour or two, but then the compressor just shuts down and only the fan blows. Have to turn off the switch, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on to get it going again. Why would it do this?

  • My guess the AC is freezing up due to lack of air circulation. It does need high speed fan to prevent freeze up when outside temps are high.
  • No, I just wired up the fan low circuit, and left the fan hi wire disconnected. The fan seems to run OK, it's just the compressor that shuts down. Is that what yours did?
  • Did you add a SPST mini switch to get dual fan speed? Mine would not work correctly until I did
