Under the circumstances you would be ill advised to use the existing 50A setup for fear of destroying some appliances. Your surge protector has done a good job at protecting your equipment to date BUT I would run off the 12 VDC systems until this gets fixed. You could get a cheap 12VDC battery charger and run the charger off the 120VAC at the pedestal in the mean time.
