Connecting inverter to shore power cord

I have my solar up and running, great stuff. Now I want connect my 1000 watt inverter to shore power cord. Looking at turning off converter, but it comes on when the main breaker is on.
Do I now pull it out to get at the converter connection?

thx

  • Doesn't look like you have any room to add another breaker.
The suggestion to add a separate switch, once you find the wire, may be your only option.
  • All breakers have just one wire except the Bedroom receptacles, which is indeed #3
I guess I have to go deeper...
    Will test first as suggested.

  • I traced the lead from the converter back to the breaker, and found that it shared the breaker with another wire. Dunno what it was. Replaced the breaker with a double 15A and separated the leads.
  • Most likely #3 or #5
Turn one off while on shore power and check charging with a multi meter
You might loose use of some receptacles you want
  • You may have to take the breaker panel off to get at the converter wiring. Then it's a simple matter of installing an spst switch on its 120v feed and mounting the switch where you can get to it.
  • This is the panel:

All I can get at is the breakers and fuses. Any other connections are hidden.
  • Sounds like it. They're usually on their own breaker, or share with something like the fridge, but it sounds like more rewiring is in your future.
  • I don't think you have to pull it out. Find its 120v feed.
