There are at least 2 Bev's that have integrated solar panels. For my own particular use pattern, I would essentially never have to plug in unless I were on a trip of over 300 miles.
True, slapping solar panels on a car provides almost no useful range, while adding weight, cost and carbon costs.
You might be able to squeeze 1000w of panels generating maybe 4kwh per day...assuming 40kw to maintain freeway speed, that's 6 min of driving per day. This assumes the car is out in clear sunlight mid day. Basically unless you have a 2 mile commute, you will wind up plugging in regularly.
I do think EVs have a useful place (short range commuter cars in multicar families), but direct solar powered is a pipe dream.
