Converter breaker trips when battery disconnected.

If I plug the camper in while the battery is disconnected the breaker for the converter trips. If the battery is connected and I plug in it does NOT trip the breaker. Normal? Nowhere to dump the s...

But unused means abandoned. Why would the converter be howling at the moon? Look into a Battery Minder or Battery Tender, connect the gizmo directly to the posts then chop all loads with a battery switch. I too use battery negative.

The rig converter takes a nap. The only AC power is going to the maintenance charger. Safer, and more secure. Good on you for having a load disconnect if indeed it chops ALL power returning to the battery. :)
