Converter fuse or breaker

Hi George,

That black plug may be the charge wizard. Converters only work when you are plugged into shore power.

There is a fuse and some sort of isolation device in the tow vehicle. I replaced the 60 amp fuse three times and then replaced it with an auto reset circuit breaker.

If the isolation device is a relay, it is possible the contacts are 'burned' which would prevent it from passing charge to the battery bank.

Ok new friends. I changed the 2 burnt fuses and towed the trailer home from the lake. About an hour at highway speeds plus more than half hour side roads. No charge to the batteries.

Is there yet another fuse or breaker somewhere? Before I crawl back in there and break something more expensive than a $1.50 fuse, there was a largish black plug I had to pull out of the side of the converter to get at the fuses. Could that be an inline fuse? Could there be a breaker reset on the converter somewhere?

Stumped and powerless.

You need to post the model number of the converter/charger unit.

Also you may have a folder stashed away that has all of the different manufacturer sheets on the appliances installed in your trailer. Mine was located stuck in next to the water heater when I purchased my new trailer. You should have a information sheet on everything installed including the converter/charger unit.

On the WF 8900 series Converter/charger 12VDC Distribution Panel board the two fuses off to them self would be the the REVERSE Polarity fuses. The two GREEN ATC fuses shown in the photo... You don't have to remove the outside cover to gain access to these fuses-just push in on the door/lid to open.

Ah! So that's what a converter looks like. Nowhere near the breakers or the batteries, it was hidden in plain sight on the back wall of the basement storage, complete with 2 burnt 30 amp fuses.

What does a converter look like?
there is nothing near the breakers/fuse panel other than an lp gas detector. I even unscrewed the panel and looked behind. Nothing but wires and dust.

I have a wfco converter and it does blow the fuse if you reverse the batt. leads for sure your converter should be real close to the breaker panel my first rv it was under it easy to see .
