I suppose if the 40-60 ampers were PF corrected, you could run more of other 120v items while the generator is on anyway for battery charging. You can now, but you have to wait until amps taper to get enough 120v headroom to run bigger 120v items at the same time.
If the converter didn't pull so much VA you could run those 120v items sooner for longer. This could be a selling point.

We have conflicting stories but not to say anybody is not telling the truth. Circumstances would be different somehow, in ways it would be good to know how it works.
EG, fisherguy says he runs his PD9280 from his Honda 2000 but another will say he can't with his. fisherguy's amps taper quickly from start so that might be just enough to get away with it, while another guy has less tapering of his amps? No idea. Maybe they are at different heights above sea level, and one guy is burning F310 in his gasoline and the other only has a tiger in his tank?
We also have verified claims that people are running two PowerMax PM3-55s at the same time with a Honda 2000 in their bowfishing boats. This should be impossible you would think, but there they are doing it.
There is obviously more to all this business of generator vs charger size, but I don't know what all the factors would be.
