There is no 'one voltage fits all' solution. When a battery manufacturer recommends a particular charging voltage, it is at a given temperature. So, for example, where 14.8v may be suitable at say 70F (Battery Temp), it would be too high at 100F, and too low at 40F. Either a temp compensated charger, or an adjustable voltage charger is required, if you will be camping year round.
The same goes for floating voltages. Some general recommendations are, at 68F, float at 13.72v, and charge to near full at 14.82v (+/- .01333v per degree F)
