Rather, I'd look for a compatible gas carb for your generator and piggy back onto it with a Propane Kit. That will require no modification of the gas carb.

You are correct. That is what I did to the BU gen. at home except that I converted to gasoline/Natural gas.
I had to drill one additional hole in the existing carb.
I have sent some e-mails out requesting info on a carb. Then I can get a propane kit from US CARB.USCARB
