Just so you know, a deck mount stand alone converter is nothing more than a glorified battery, that comes in 6 different amperages. It has an ac plug in cord, and a pos and neg batt terminals.
A new deck mount may not fit into where the old converter is. That is why I said, "if you have the room"
In my case, I left the old converter where it is inside the power center.. I just disconnected the 120v ac wires to it, and brought them to a new receptical to plug my new deck mount into. Then just hook up pos and neg cables to the battery.
Randy is going to sell you a new converter that is made fit into where the old one is now, but just because Randy says it, doesn't mean that is in your best interest.
Like was said going w/ a deck mount, you will have a choice of 6 different amp out puts, 35-80, compared to one, And you can hopefully mount it closer to the batteries, and you can take it out if you ever want to and connect the old converter again.
