I have a small compartment a couple where my current 12volt battery is now which I'm thinking would be perfect for a deck mount. I don't know the exact measurements but I would say the compartment is just over a ruler in length, same width as a Costco 12volt deep cycle and you could probably stack two batteries on top of each other for height.
Would this be considered a deck mount?

Yes, that is a deck mount converter. The converter shouldn't be in the same compartment as the batteries because of possible explosion. The battery compartment should be vented. The converter should be connected to the battery with at least 6 gauge cable, as short as possible.
