I think most of the engineer types here advocate venting even AGM batteries. I know some here don't. They won't outgas unless overcharged BUT, depending on the AGM, they CAN outgas a little on a hot day with a "high" float voltage. Example: 100F with a 13.6V float.

I think even their engineers refer to it as conditioning even though you are still introducing an overcharge to the batteries (just like equalization). The big difference here is that you aren't trying to equalize cells on AGMs. You are trying to remove sulphates from the plates to recover capacity.
